Project Highlight
In 2011, the owners of Applecrest Farm came together with the design/build team of Alba Architects and Martini Northern to begin the journey that would result in the new 10,800 square foot “barn” that today houses new retail, restaurant and function space just across the courtyard from the existing farm market.
- The new structure features energy-efficient ICF exterior wall systems combined with highly fire-resistant Idaho pine interior wood structural members topped off by a spray foam insulated attic and metal roof.
- The large timber frame structure preserves the rustic interior appearance of the facility which is accentuated by the use of locally-reclaimed wood for some select interior partitions.
- Metal siding stored on the farm was also re-used to provide additional dimension to the interior.
- High- efficiency dimmable LED lighting contributes to the building’s reduced operating costs.
- The interior retail market flows naturally into the 75-seat adjoining restaurant which features an outdoor patio overlooking the farm’s rolling fields.
